Art Journaling Event Recap

In early January, we hosted an online Art Journaling workshop.

I walked the participants through a grounding meditation then they each made their own Art Journal at home. Each person had their own thing they wanted to work through, whether it was feeling stuck on a project or in life, or something that they wanted to let go of emotionally.

I talked them through different prompts, using feelings in the body, negative and positive emotions, and how it would feel to celebrate. They would use their art tools (paint, colored pencils, and oil pastels) to visualize the emotion on their paper.

Afterwards, we discussed how they were feeling and what they got out of the workshop. The responses were very positive. Each participant said that she was able to really get her emotions on paper and work through some things that had been hidden.

Here are some comments from the workshop:

“It was a really nice reset. I’m feeling energized to prioritize myself and get back to playing with art.” (This participant was feeling stuck when it comes to being creative in work and her life.)

“I instantly feel more energy, lightness, and joy! Thank you!”

“I loved the workshop and being in ‘virtual community’ with the other ladies. I know that the short-lived crying I experienced during the session felt very good to do and doing it with knowing others might see it felt good – I felt that I could just let it out. I also felt that I was really able to express how I was feeling internally with your guidance.”
