Ghosts of Your Past

Let’s talk about ghosts & safety.

Today I’m going to tell you a really personal story. 

When I was growing up, I had a hard time sleeping at night. 

I would often hear somebody (or somebodies) walking down the hallway past my room. I would hear people having a conversation or I would hear the television.

More often than not, when I would investigate the sounds, my family would all be asleep.

I knew it then, as I know it now – my childhood home was haunted. 

Though these spirits never harmed me, it left a huge emotional scar. I grew up feeling uneasy to go to sleep in the dark, and that carried well into my adult life. 

But that’s not the only problem it caused. However, I didn’t realize that until very recently.

Clearing your House

Some of you may know that I have been doing energetic house clearings. I not only clear the heavy and stale energy in your home, but I also remove any spirits or dark entities from rooms and even items. 

I recently cleared a home that had several antique items that had negative spirits attached, plus several dark energies in the basement. 

Even neutral spirits in your home can drag down your energy (they are at a lower vibration), so it’s good to clear them out.

I started doing these house clearings because I had a dream that it would be part of my business offerings. But frankly, I was pretty nervousto do the work. 

Despite working with spirits and divine beings for several years now, I was still struggling with a fear for what could happen to me if I let my guard down. Like, what if I encountered something really scary and it hurt me somehow?

Facing the past

I must admit what happened next was an accident. I wasn’t trying to have some major life shift happen last week. I sensed something was weighing me down, and I investigated (using a specific energy clearing method I can teach you, too). 

Turns out my Heart wanted to bring me back to my childhood nightmare….and then FACE it. I went back to my old home. I was in the dark and couldn’t find any lights. I got to problem solve my way through it all, figuring out how to be calm and protected. 

I witnessed the entire situation from a different angle and saw the ghosts that had haunted my childhood were not scary at all. And with that, I knew that the spirits couldn’t hurt me.

It was then, in this crazy vision, that I finally realized deep down that I am my own protector. I have my own back. And I am strong enough to do this work. 

I’ve been sleeping through the night ever since. Even my level of confidence feels different in daily life. It’s like this cloud lifted and suddenly I feel rooted and free to be in the world without fear.

Don’t get me wrong; these house energy clearings are not child’s play. I’ve been building up to this work for a while now. But that isn’t the point of this story.

The important point here is about safety. And here’s how it applies to you.

Be your own knight in shining armor

Here’s what I realized through this experience:

Many of us walk through life looking to others for protection. 

For so long, I looked to my parents, to my boyfriend, my dogs, and to everyone else but myself to be strong for me.

But just like our power, when we give away our self-protection, we end up feeling unstable. We are in a helpless maiden-in-the-tower energy, feeling like we have no control over anything. 

Where are you exposing yourself?

Okay so, maybe you’ve read this far and thought, “I don’t have problems with spirits at night.” 

Sure, I understand. Maybe for you it’s: 

…other people’s energy 

…or finances 

…or that crazy neighbor 

…or the news cycle.

No matter what it is, you might be looking to others to protect you.

It could be showing up as fear, but it also could be showing up as angercontrol, or even being scared of change. You have to look deep down and figure that out for yourself.

And as I learned recently, you may not even realize that you’ve been feeling exposed or unsafe. Or what the root cause of this feeling stems from.

But the stronger you get in your awareness of what your body (and emotions) are telling you, the clearer the answer will become. 

For example, if you had a difficult childhood, you may have to learn how to mother yourself. Or you may need to learn how to trust others or find tools to feel at home and safe within your own body.

The hardest part of establishing self-protection is that it’s a strong foundation of safety within yourself. 

You can’t fake it.
