How to Stop Pushing

Why do we do this? 

We get a big hit from our intuition…like we know exactly where we need to go or what to do…and then we stop short? 

Instead of listening, we keep pushing and pushing AGAINST the guidance or the knowledge and then run ourselves ragged?

Is it because we:

  • think we know better?
  • feel we have something to prove to the world?
  • are in comparison mode and think we have to do things the same way as everyone else?

Or perhaps we just aren’t ready for the truth of the situation. It for some reason seems easier and more comfortable to keep pushing that rock up the hill rather than letting it fall the way it is supposed to.

But once you let go of that rock, you realize the pieces fit right into place. Maybe not right away, but soon after. And you can breathe again!

Society tells us that we are supposed to grind and grind and wear ourselves out to overcome hardships. But what I’ve found is the opposite. When something is meant to be, it feels like the path is laid out for us. Opportunities, inspiration, and support seem to float out of midair. Relaxation seems easier. And life doesn’t feel like such a burden.

Sure, it won’t all be easy. There are still growth opportunities and challenges, but you won’t be walking around like Atlas trying to hold up the world AND juggle chaos. 

Take it from someone who was great at trying to bulldoze through life. This way is much better and more fun.
