The Reason you Feel Drained

I have a few questions for you to start off.

  • When you talk to a friend who is upset, do you end up taking on their energy for hours after the conversation?
  • Can you sense the anger radiating off one of your coworkers, even if they don’t say anything?
  • Does spending time with extended family leave you feeling drained?

If you answered yes to these questions, you are not alone. Many people tell me that they have similar experiences, and it’s why they ask for help with learning to protect their own energy from the outside world.

Boy, do I understand the urgency to learn these tools, too.

As an empath and healer, I’m tuned into people’s energy all the time, even when I’m not working. Whether it’s one on one, in a crowd, or in an empty space, I can sense heaviness and strong emotion

I have been sensitive to this since I was young, and because of it, I had extreme anxiety and was guarded, especially around strangers.

In fact, learning to protect my energy was the main reason I became a Reiki Healer in 2020. The weight of everyone else’s emotions at that time was wearing me down completely.

Sure, it’s annoying to be drained or feel bad after an interaction with someone, but you may not recognize the bigger concern. Keep reading to learn about that.

The Hidden Cost of Not Protecting Your Energy

By leaving yourself open or unprotected from outside energies, you allow the emotions of others to stick to you. 

  • That sadness of your friend? It becomes YOUR sadness and guilt. 
  • The anger you felt off your coworker? Suddenly you have lingering anger and you snap at your spouse when you get home. 
  • The anxiety coming off the stranger in line at the grocery store turns into your own overwhelming thoughts for days to come.

And the longer you let those emotions of other people layer upon you, the more your well-being suffers. That anger, depression, or anxiety ends up becoming a long-term issue.

Additionally, you can inadvertently give away your energy to others, which leaves you depleted and unfocused.

Here are some signs that you aren’t protecting your energy:

  • Avoidance of crowds or social gatherings
  • Lack of connection with others
  • Frequently getting sick
  • Feeling out of control of your emotions for no apparent reason

By learning techniques to protect your energy:

  • It will be exciting to attend parties or take long weekends with friends. 
  • You’ll be more respected because you handle high-energy situations with ease.
  • Connection to others will deepen, because you won’t be scared of taking on their emotions.
  • You’ll have a better mindset and feel good in your body. 

Take it from me. After I learned these tools to protect and clear my own energy, I am a much more stable, peaceful, and confident person. Many of my clients tell me that I’m like their therapist, and that’s definitely not something I could have done without learning energy protection.
